1998 ramvan1500 3.9 speedo not working/ABS and Brake light on
There are two different sensors in play here. The one on top of the rear differential is for the ABS system. The second one is mounted on the rear of the tranny and it controls the speedo, engine controls, and tranny shift points.
Got it at O'Reilly's today. They called it an 'ABS Sensor'. Was a pistol to get out of the differential housing, without the car jacked up, and I have no way of jacking it up. That O ring did not want to let go.
In any event, trying to get the new one back in is proving to be just as tough. It does not want to seat itself past that O ring. I have no way of 'pressing' it in place.
Does anyone have any tricks to accomplish this, please let me know??

Maybe a vacuum leak is my whole problem? I just noticed that my a/c won't work at all until it's turned to the 4th notch. It seems to be new problem. Could this cause the cylinder 5 misfire? And perhaps all of my problems? The only code I'm getting is the P0305. By the way was that a definative no on the brake problem? The re-illumination is normal?
Thanks,

Bill,
I had a similar problem a couple of months ago. (Not sure if maybe it is the lousy way that the dealership connected a new wire from the supposedly new PCM to the supposedly new transmission sensor, that is causing all of these other electronic sensors/relays to blow.)
To get back to the blower for the A/C. Mine would only run on the highest setting for both A/C and heat. So, it was obvious it was the blower itself, not the heat or A/C systems. If I am right, it is most likely the blower motor relay. Usually mounted under the hood, passenger side, on the heater box. I took mine off and brought it into the auto parts store to make sure I got the right part.

If your AC only runs on the highest setting, the problem is your blower motor resistor, mounted on the right front of the HVAC box if looking at it from the front. The only reason you get the highest setting when the blower motor resistor has trashed is because the highest setting bypasses the blower motor resistor.
I worked on the golf cart, chainsaw, and finally the van last night and I was tired and dumb, by then. Got up this am, put the metal cage around the sensor, and down it went. Sheesh.
All lights are off. So, it was that 'ABS sensor'.

I've a similar problem with my Van. 1500. The speedometer needle doesn't come off the peg till I reach 35mph. Its accurate after that because I had it checked. 3.9 engine, auto trans, 240,000 miles on engine. Very reliable vehicle.
I've located the Rear sensor, removed and found no visible problems, however after reinstalling the speedometer needle was worse than before, so i'm quite sure I've found the problem. Part is on order. I also uinderstand there is a second sensor on the tranny, but I am unable to locate it. I purchased a tranny sensor but there is nothing like it on the tranny. Thoughts anyone. There are only 2 devices on this tranny with wire connections and both are much smaller than the sensor I purchased. Every parts store I called said there were 2 sensors but there is none to be found on the tranny.
