Had noticed my gas pedal seem's to have alot of play in it. Was wondering if that would affect performance?

Only if the looseness is keeping the butterfly in the throttle body from fully opening. It's easy to check how far the butterfly opens. Pull the air cleaner cover (engine off) and look down into the throttle body while pressing the gas pedal to the floor.
