Default Blower fuses failing with A/C

Hello, I have a 1990 B250 5.2L V8

I am having a problem with the blower fuses while using my A/C. The fuse will last roughly a month before it fails. It will only fail during the summer months when I'm running my A/C, it doesn't fail in the winter when I am only using the heater. BTW, this is not my primary vehicle.

When it pops, the fuse is incredibly hot to the touch.
I put a jumper across the fuse holder for test purposes and within 30 seconds of running the A/C, the jumper got so hot that the solder on the aligator clip melted and the 16ga wire came free of the clip.

I metered across the fuse holder and it is reading 14.4 volts and 4.4 amps

Any suggestions??
THANKS!
Roberson

Sounds like an obstruction. I would inspect the intake air ducts and the squirrel cage for debris, then pry open the evaporator core housing and carefully clean off the dirt/leaves/etc from the evaporator coil. If it is seriously dirty and clogged (likely) you may want to consider replacing it.

Even run near it's amperage limit, a fuse shouldn't get hot. Check where the wires connect to the fuse connector, or the connector itself. There is some high resistance there causing the heat. Maybe corrosion or failing connection.
