Picked up a 98 ram van 1 ton 3500 and it needs some tlc. Some how they broke the mount where the shifter mounts to the steering Column. I'm assuming that the 1500-3500 all had the same column. I'm just not sure what years interchange. Anyone know for sure?

 

I think that part is called the steering collar. In older Fords, that thing broke all the time. It was a pretty common repair...

Since the b-Series chassis parts didnt change much through it's run, I would assume most all years would interchange. I am not 100% sure though. I am sure you can take your old one out and find one at the junk yard.

 

The 98 column is a different style from those used earlier. I believe columns from 1998 until the end of production in 2003 are interchangeable and have interchangeable parts.

 

98 to 2000 will interchange, there was a change in 2001 so anything newer wont work.

finally got around to looking at this column. The broken piece is part # 26036367 . I was looking online and can't find the part # or this piece on any diagram. I don't want to swap out the whole column for just one broken piece. Does this piece interchange more than the 2 years or does it also change? I know some switches and things are different.
