Default No air flow | Dash Switch / BM Resistor / Blower Motor?

Hello Dodge Forum, I'm glad there's a community of know-hows here. Hopefully someone will have a clear answer to this issue!

I have bought a 96 Ram Van 2500 that seems to have the classic Blower Motor X issue. The heat, defrost and AC buttons seem to work, but no air flows through the vent because the blower motor does not turn on.

So what's the cause? Well, I've done some simple diagnostics, but I'd love to validate that what I did was right!

The Fuse shows continuity on the multimeter.

The Fan Speed Switch will show continuity from the ground pin (center) to the outlying speed pins as I flip the switch back and forth

I do not know how to test the Blower Motor Resistor under the glovebox.

I have connected the terminals of the Blower Motor Fan to the Battery. (Green side to ground, Black to Red+ on the battery) using speaker wire and nothing happens. The fan does not spin.

It looks like the Blower Motor itself is dead, but I want to be absolutely sure I'm doing this right before I start buying parts and tearing things apart!

Thank you Dodge Forum

You did by connecting the blower motor up directly to the battery and nothing happened. Replace the blower motor itself.

It doesn't get much easier to access the blower motor than it is on these vans. Open the hood and it's right there on the side of the air box.

You may find that draining the radiator and removing the lower hose may make it easier to pull the fan all the way out of there, at least on the 97 and earlier vans.

If you put your multimeter in ohms position, with wires unplugged from blower motor, measure the blower motor resistance. If you get no reading, then the motor has an open so it needs to be replaced. If you get a reading of a few ohms then the motor should work when 'hot wired' directly to the battery.
