As long as the numbers on your's matches the replacement used one, then it's an even swap with nothing to program. There's an 8-digit number on the PCM that ends with 2 letters, like AA, AB, AD, AE, etc. That number and the 2 letters are what you need. Post the number here and maybe we can help you find a used one.

PIN 56040389AP

I seen one for sale that had same # except the last letter is an "E". Would this work? if not, then I am still on the hunt.
Also, i belive i read on this forum that you can burn VIN and mileage with a OBD3, If thats the case, will i still need to match #'s?

I've never seen a number end in AP. Are you sure it isn't AB or AF?

Which engine do you have in this van?

You're right,... there is a software upgrade sticker over the original #'s. It was hard to make out last letter but it looks like a P or an F.. Never the less, I peeled a little bit of the sticker away to get a look at the original label and the PIN # is 56040389AB ... Does the last letter have to match? Motor is a 318

Just to clarify, the software label was completely covering the original PIN.. the hand written PIN looked to be a "P" or possibly an "F"..

From what i gathered today, the software sticker can have a different PIN? If thats the case, the dodge programmer needs to write a little bigger :-/I need a digital camera.

Check with this place, they have one listed at http://www.car-part.com for a 2000, 5.2L 1500 Dodge Van for $75. They did not list the PCM number so I can't verify it's the right one.

Great thanks alloro! I will give them a call first thing in the morning.

Using the heat was a great idea and I thank you. I have used a hairdryer to make sure my ignition module was bad on my motorcycles. Start and run the bike, put heat on module and if it shuts off, its bad.

Thanks for your help and will let you know how its going.
