Default B350 one ton engine issues

I have had this truck a while now, about 10 years, its a '93 I think. It was my main van upto about 4 years ago then I just set it in the yard and forgot about it. There were some issues but nothing close to my 2000, 2500 I replaced it with. The biggest problem was a hesitation when pulling away and a lack of power, or rather, very reduced power when hitting hills. I would need to get a good head of steam up and then floor it to pull up hills. Its not the transmission. Before I replaced it the garage did tune it (or rather. I paid for that) but it made no difference. New plugs, leads too, no difference. So, after 3 years sitting, I put a battery on it and it started first time, like it was started from just have been shut off. I am so impressed with this van, its NEVER let me down but I want to cure the hesitation and power issue. The hesitation happens when pulling away, you need to give it gentle gas or it will stall. As it is, it almost feels like it will stall but then picks up a goes. I have a harrow being towed right now for the gravel drive and its just going and going. I dont want to get rid of this vehicle but I do want to get it running better.
Any suggestions? It burns no oil by the way.

Get a broom handle and whack the CAT a few times. If it rattles, it has burned up and clogged the exhaust, thus the hesitation and lose of power. A universal CAT that fits the Ram Trucks Magnum engines work with our vans, thus the cost is by far better. Get a high flow CAT, it will save on MPG as well.

Also, check out the Chrysler TSB issues at Geno's ... http://dodgeram.info/tsb/0_old_ix.htm

Thats how I feel about this van. Its a work van, not camperized, but I believe if I can get it running as it should, then I can put it back on the road.

I might have the same: '93 full size 360fi but blows black smoke. It is kept up as parts
are replaced as needed.
Mileage is 60 mph highway; as noted city and little wind
normail city 13.+ mpg; normail highway 22.+ did the same
thing last fall as the mechanic

trip from Laughlin, Nv mileage is in half plus burning gas(black smoke)
4/2 166540- 166577 37/04.9= 7.551 total highway at 60mph
4/3 166577- 166637 60/03.7= 16.216 replace air 1/2 highway 1/2 city
4/4 166637- 166695 58/08.2= 7.0732 total highway 60mph result of thread and had mechanic; replaced wire; cap. rotor explain the bad and
said will get good mileage.
4/6 166695- 166716 21/04.3= 4.8838 highway at 60mph
4/7 166716- 166829 113/11.0= 10.273 speed up : staying 70 Salt Lake

As explained replace parts as needed - not just for the heck: yet still
hung with no correction. 360 fi engine start runs no problem; 350 dodge
van auto o/d and lockup; driven 60 highway and as noted city.

Did you replace the cap and rotor when you changed the plugs and wires?

This is where I have big problem............Lat fall I replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor
did trip south rangin from 18 to 22 mpg. Now spend winter in Laughlin, nv and drove
each day.
On return trip(above) started out 7.5 and replaced airfilter and up to 16.2 in Las
Vegas, Nv and out to Lake Mead(intown and steady country driving)
Then 7.0 so took in to mechanic(suggested) Sr George, Ut. He replaced wires,
plugs, cap and rotor telling me of all the crap that he replaced. psi on lines fi
ok. Leave and fill up using map and car mileage 4.8. Then 10.2 through Salt
Lake City( up speed 70 mph) Mileage down as I write and blowing black smoke
when accelerating????????????????????????????
As you see selection of mechanic hard?

Possible culprits:
O2 sensor
Fuel pressure regulator
Dirty/faulty injector
