Question Leaking into Motor

2001 Dodge Ram Van 1500. On my van, water is leaking from under the black grill between the windshield and the hood into the engine compartment every time it rains. It was supposedly fixed by a local garage 2 days ago but today I ran the hose onto the grill as a test. I put a layer of newspaper on top of the engine and various parts. When I opened the hood, the paper was wet in a lot of places and there was water dripping all along the edge from under the black grill and spilling onto just about everything inside the engine compartment.

Anyone know why this is happening and what to do?

Is the rubber weather stripping missing along the top edge of the engine compartment?

No there is weather stripping there. The weather stripping is on the black grill. The water is leaking out from underneath the bottom edge of the grill. The water runs down the couple of inches of body and drips into the engine compartment all across the front.

Thanks

You may want to take the grill off and make sure the drain channels on either side are not clogged up with leaves, trash, etc.

Hi Sparkzz, The garage told me they had done this and that the drainage holes were plogged up and they cleaned them out. But I tested it myself because rain is forecasted and it still leaks. I'm going to take the grill off myself and see what it looks like under it. Clearly the water that enters the grill is not draining as it should. Strangely the water is not overflowing the grill and coming back out the holes. It is coming from under the grill as though the grill itself is cracked or broken on the inside bottom out of sight. It is hard plastic so .... maybe...

silicone caulking is a good thought and I may resort to that but I'm hoping to find out why the water from rain is no longer draining as it should.

Thanks all.
