Default 94 B350: 3 Row Radiator Upgrade, Fit?

Looking to upgrade my 94 B350 with a 3 row radiator.

However, I'm concerned about any modifications it might require. I've done quite a bit of work myself on the van myself so have a bit of mechanical ability but in this heat, I don't think I have the patience for much more than a (mostly) direct fit.

It's got a 5.9L, Auto trans w/ cooler, A/C.

The radiator I'm looking at is https://www.radiatorexpress.com/prod...aia_id=1076431

Note it's 2 1/8" thickness.

I called them up and they couldn't offer much more than their 'outstanding' return policy which in the case of a non-fit would be s/h to me, s/h back, and restocking fee. However, he did they sell quite a few so I guess people out there are biting.

Any experiences/opinions on this upgrade?

Thanks so much!!!

It should be a straight up swap.

Just curious, have you performed a similar swap/upgrade on a B350?

I bet IF the core is actually 2 1/8 thick, it is two rows of 1 inch tubes. If you get it, look down the radiator cap and see if you see two or 3 rows of tubes

Looks like it will drop right in. the extra thickness should not be an issue

I wouldn't be surprised if you were right although they claim 3. Their other options are this model which states both "2 row cooling capacity" and then goes on to state the specs of 1 row - https://www.radiatorexpress.com/prod...aia_id=1076431

Anyway, my service manual says to come in from the bottom (I believe for this model) however I haven't spent a whole lot of time absorbing the details. This will be my first radiator replacement. One of many firsts for me with this vehicle...

Thanks for the input!

That second link you post looks exactly like my Silla( which claimed 2 row, but was one 1 inch row with 1/14 inch wide fins, which started seeping from where the tubes meet the bottom tank, after about 9 months of use. It will be 3 years in use this September. Still seeping. I figure collecting on warranty would be giant PITA.

I kind of view radiators as disposable at this point, being my 4th in 10 years, and no better luck with copper brass vs all aluminum. Have not had plastic tanks yet.

I'll ask them today who the manufacturer is. I suspect I won't get a straight answer.

I also sourced an all metal CSF for $200. NOW I'm on the fence between the 3 row all aluminum, 2 row CSF or just getting a 1 row cheapo Spectra/whatever from a chain parts store w/ an easy warranty.

In my case I expect warranty to be denied cause of salt damage. I am always parking next to the ocean and every warranty has an "OUT" in this regard.

I don't trust the plastic tanks, but a service rep friend of mine says they have the least amount of returns at his shop.

Thought I'd update with some model numbers for anyone doing some research on new radiators...

Silla
1707-a 1 row, plastic tank

1707-aa 1 row, all alluminum
1707-2aa 2 row, all aluminum

1707-3aa 3 row, all aluminum (didn't find this in Silla's catalog but its the real deal)

Spectra
CU1707 1 row plastic

VistaPro
433961 1 row plastic

I bought 1707-3AA. Shipped quick and seems like good quality although the mounting holes were slightly off. Installation was fairly straighforward and so far seems like it'll work out great.
http://www.shepherdautoparts.com/aut...OQwqLCog==.htm (SAPSAS15 $15 off)

BTW, for anyone doing a radiator swap I'd encourage you to take a look at your transmission coolor lines and transmission cooler hoses as you may want to replace those while you're under there and have the lines disconnected. The lines themselves are very exposed and are a vulnerable weak spot for a costly transmission.

Default I've installed this 3core radiator.

I have installed the 1707-3aa 3 row aluminum radiator and I love it. I had to grind down about an eighth off the upper driver side sheetmetal fold because it rubbed on the radiator but other than that it was a perfect fit! I love it! I also installed the flexlite dual fan temp controlled unit and it runs so cool on even the hottest days!
