Default "01 B2500 seat belt issue

I bought some used captain's seats and pulled out the stock seats in the old van. After installation, when I went to refasten the passenger side seatbelt to the seat base, I tired to give myself some slack. The belt just kept rolling up into the mechanism and now it is too short to even get close to the seat base. I cannot plug in the electrical seat belt connecter in the seat base if that would help. How can I get the seat belt to unroll from the device that tightens the belt?
I am about ready to cut the damn thing...

thx
Roger

Default tensioner turned out to be an easy fix

Thx blackvan for the youtube video idea. I watched that flick and hoped my fix would not be that complicated. I watched a second 57 second related video that basically says what your last post mentioned... the position of the mechanism has everything to do with the locking part. See this short video

I went out an tried it and this worked like a charm. I just held the locking mechanism in the same position as it would have been if it had been bolted on and the tensioner unlocked and allowed me to pull out enough belt so that I could reattach the tensioner to the seat base.
