20 Amp dash power port problem
Ever since I got this van nearly 3 years ago, '01 B2500, the dash power port has never worked. The van actually has two lighter plugs, there is one near the center top front of the dash that does work, and a second one below the first with a removable plastic cap on it labeled 20A 12V Power port that has never worked. There are no blown fuses that I can find in the fuse block. Putting a meter inside the port shows no voltage whatsoever.
Can anyone give me any guidance as to where this thing may be fused or why it is not working? It bugs me and I could use another power port.
thanks for any help...

Somehow this image got deleted, maybe I ran low on space which is why I host my own images when I can. Hope you tracked down your problem by now!

I saw your original picture... I looked at my fuse box and I also had a pigtailed extra wire to the same fuse.
Both fuses are good, but socket still dead...
I have not gone any further with it... I hate to dig under the dash...

Personally I'd get a Blue seas Ciggy plug receptacle and wire it right to the battery over New 10awg. An ATC fuse and holder as close to the battery as possible. Especially If I believed the 20 amp claim was indeed possible through a ciggy plug/power port.
Ciggy plugs/ receptacles are barely adequate for anything more than 7.5 amps. The 20 amp Claim speaks volumes and is a joke.
All My ciggy plugs(8) are fed by sub 6 foot lengths of 10 awg, and those passing more than 7 amps get warm/hot no matter how tight I make the ground springs grab tightly against the push of the Hot Spring loaded Nipple. No ciggy plug is tied to my engine battery, all to house batteries and Fused individually.
Waiting on Alloro's clever comment about the hot nipple. Don't disappoint us

He's right, 20 amps is really pushing your luck. Even 10 amps is likely to cook that cheap piece of Chinese junk, just touch it and check out the heat coming off it. You want to draw that kind of amperage consistently you need to wire it properly and skip the cig lighter. Or better yet, solder it in place directly.
