I have a restored 1972 B-300 van and the frame is cracking under the steering box. Anyone have the repair bulletins or recall bulletins? I would like to know the dealer repair procedure that was called for including any drawings, pictures etc..

Can a wielder rewield the crack and install a patch plate over the problem area?

 

We welded the crack and it cracked again. I have heard of recalls regarding this problem but I cannot find a dealer who has a information going back 40 years. The patch plate is the next fix but there is so much going on in that area. It appears the original welding is substandard also. I have also bolted on some straps but the patch is the next step.
