I have a 97 Dodge Ram Van 2500 with 128K miles we had a new starter put in recently. Van runs great normally but all a sudden we are experiencing stalling when we come to stop. Van does not get run frequently, drive less than mile to work and occasionally takes a trip. Not sure what the issue is and before I take to mechanic trying to fix on own. Local parts guy suggested I clean out carb with carb cleaner-just finished up.

 

On a 1997 you don't have a carburetor: the engine is fuel injected.

Your IAC is sticking and you can either replace it or clean it. Search this forum for a step by step tutorial on cleaning the IAC.
