Airbag and ABS Light Question
My airbag and ABS lights are on (came on originally at different times) so I took the 2001 Ram Van 3500 to a mechanic who said it needed a new airbag clock spring and probably a new ignition switch to fix an intermittent ABS issue.
They marked the parts way way up so I am thinking of doing the work myself but I am wondering if after I finish the repair, how can I reset the lights/systems so they function normally again (assuming those repairs were the root of the problems). I don't have a scan tool that can read those SRS or ABS cods.
Thanks

You need to also turn the key to the start position all the way while the battery is disconnected. This opens the PCM/ECM current flow to drain it.
Well, don't feel bad, my Airbag, ABS light, cruise control and horn no longer work because the clock spring broke. I had thought about doing it myself, but a SPECIAL tool is needed and the compression to set a new one in requires effort. The clock spring is deeper in the column too.
So, the ABS light is on, but the ABS still works. It's just a lamp that goes on if the driver airbag is no longer active. As for the horn, I rewired a new switch. The cruise I can live without.
