88 Dodge Ram B250 318/5.2 with code 32 EGR system failure.

Smog pump has been making noise intermittently for a while.
With engine running I skirted the pulley/belt area with water and the noise went away until the water dried up. Tonight the noise was noticeably different, more of a metal clacking noise. I think the pump has failed.
Would this cause the EGR code?

I feel like I know the answer but I'm wondering if something else failing could cause this code also.

 

Replaced the smog pump. Noise and code is gone.
