2000 Dodge Van computer?
Hi, this is my first post here!
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 van that needs a new computer. The shop said they'd charge $1200 to install it. They seem to be about $285 on line. But I'd rather pick one up locally in or near Sacramento, CA.
Do you guys have any tips on finding a good price on a used computer?

The P at the beginning of you part number is not necessary. Here is one has a matching number stated as ending in AB, AC, AD, or AF instead of just AD. I don't know how much difference that makes, but if you want to take the chance it's $167 shipped. R&R 3 bolts and 3 electrical connectors and off you go. I'd contact them and ask.

Usually the last two letters are just revisions. The later the better. AA is the first and AB is better. AC is better than AB, etc.
For the most part, the revisions fix a few little quirks in the engine management or adjust things for emissions for your model year.
Since the numbers match, that is what really counts!
Like Alloro said, to swap the computer takes abut 10-mins. The three connectors take the longest to disconnect, but are very easy to put back on. When taking the wire harness connectors off, try not to twist them or flex them much. Just move them aside easy and let them rest in a good spot. Underhood electronic wires tend to be heat aged and the jarring around can mess the wires themselves inside the insulation.
