Hi,
I purchased recently a 2000 Dodge RAM VAN 1500 5.9 with 78k miles on it to use it as Van for Windsurfing. Ysterday it started leaking and the mechanic identified the rear heater core as the reason.
So far so bad, but when actually looking for a replacement part, somehow I cannot find a fitting one.
Does anyone have a clue where I can get a (new) rear heater core for my van?
The one from Autozone does not fit...
Grateful for every hint/recommendation!
Thanks in advance
BR Andreas

The rear units are combi units made by Denso Corp from Japan. They are both the heater and the AC cores in one. It is VERY PRICEY to replace. These can not be re-cored nor welded.
If you live in the very cold north, then sure it would be nice to have. If not so much worried, just blow the hot air from the front to the back in the winter time.
OK, with that said, you can by-pass the rear unit by opening up the little hood of the van, look for the alternator. Next to the alternator there is three hoses joined together by a "T" (tee) fitting. One of those runs to the rear unit. Just replace that tee fitting with a regular coupler to only run the front heater. On the other hose look what runs with a return from the rear unit.
Bypassing the heater lines to the back unit will not affect the AC part of the multi-core.
