Default Just Changed My Battery Today.

When I took the old one out I noticed the date on it...July 2004. Imagine that, 10 years of driving from a 5 year battery.

Nice job. Exide gets a bad rap.

I had a Wally world marine battery go just over 7 years before I replaced it. Bet I coulda got a few more months out of it. It was cycled shallowly for the first 23 months, then used only for engine starting.

Just keep them fully charged and they can live a long time.

Expect the alternator to be a magical instant battery charger after any significant depletion, hope for 3 years, expect 2.

What did you replace it with? what group size?

I got a group 31 Deep cycle USbattery shoe horned under the Hood. It is rated at 620CCA and 130 amp hour capacity.

I've also got a Northstar Group 27 AGM battery in my battery tray under the floor.
930CCA and 90 amp/hour capacity.

Am using the NorthStar AGM primarily as engine starting battery, but I am not afraid to cycle it. The NS battery cranks the engine over unbelievably fast, almost scary fast.

Also the NS has a fully charged resting voltage of 13.07v. It holds significantly higher voltages under discharge than the flooded deep cycle for the same amount removed from it. It weight ~6 lbs more.

Not a cheap battery though, and I have no Idea how it will age in my usage, but so far I am impressed.

Group 27 with 800 CCA 84-month from Napa for $66.50 with tax. My stepson works there so I got his discount. It would've been around $155 otherwise.

I just replaced my 7 year 4 month old battery this week. Went out on me like a Sears Diehard though it was a Interstate battery. Several great starts for the day and then it acted as though it had a loose wire. Cleaned all parts, wires, terminals, battery posts and nothing. Had my worker jump start it and it ran fine until I let it back down to idle speed and it quit. Replaced battery with a Super Start Extreme 850 CCA battery and it started better than it has for many years.

Alloro I like your price better than mine, my cost was $115.32 and that was with my discount.
