It took some time, but the one in New Port Richie doesn't have rust. Those others sure do. Maybe I can easily convert this one to a 12-passenger.... http://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/ctd/4810879898.html

most cars do not rust here. My van has been here all its life and has ZERO rust on it. I also live 2000 ft from the Intercoastal...

here are some shots of the underside...

cars don't rust through here. Yes, there can be surface rust, but this is usually from people not cleaning their ****

Alright, so another update. The last time I drove it the van got harder and harder to drive, and the brakes locked up. So I had it towed home and once the tow guy set the van down, it drove fine again. I called a mobile mechanic and we found out the previous owner filled up the master cylinder with ATF. Ugh. I had to buy a new master cylinder and he filled up with brake fluid and bled all the ATF out of the lines. Now the van is running and driving okay. If you want to see how crappy the outside is, I have a craigslist ad on it because it's seeming like too much of a money pit, here it is:

**** Before you say the back is ugly as ****, I did spend 3 hours completely gutting the interior and it looks like a great cargo van, I'll update the ad today.

That really is a nasty move to sell you that van without making you aware of major issues the PO knew about. I have been where you are and it is not easy to part with a money pit after insuring, registering and paying any taxes.

Wish you good luck and hope you do find a nicer replacement, owning a B Van is a religion you will love.

It will be a good cargo van with the wood bench/table removed.

With the heat, does the van have defrost too? Your ad makes it sound like floor heat is all you get.

Were you able to up the compression some with a thicker oil?

As for the image-9 in the ad showing the driver seat and dash, remove the **** rug and zip-tie the wires under the dash just above the break pedal. You would be amazed at how fast someone would buy a clunky vehicle when it's tidy and clean. PS, hope you can mount the rearview mirror too.

As for the Maintenance Required light, have you done the 3X key dance to pull off any codes? It may be something simple to remedy to shut that light off.

In my area, that van would easily sell for $1,000 or $1,500 with 50% tread of matching brand tires. Is the spare any better than the weird whitewall tire?

Okay, so probably the final update on this van, sorry it took so long and I had a ton of work done to it. Bad things that are getting worse-

Oil is leaking, higher the rev, more oil that gets puked somewhere. Smells awful and puts out a ton of smoke. Not blue however.. Strange..

Trans is DEFINITELY going out. Noticed the thing was just downright gutless, shifting WAY to early and unless I grabbed the column shifter and pulled it into 1, then 2 then drive it wouldn't go very fast. (Thing is SCARY fast when I shift it manually.) Clunks really bad when you put it in gear and once you get to 65mph it randomly dies. Like on the dot, 65mph, trans turns into slushbox and won't move unless I shut the engine off and turn it back on.

I SOLD IT!! $750 and the guy actually knows of all the bad things, something I wish I would have known when I bought it.

Attached is a video of the van running and driving now, not very well however. As for the questions, I did the 3 key thing and only got code 33. Which I believe has something to do with the AC, which this van doesn't even have an option for. I have not changed the oil to thicker oil, because in the video I point out, as the engine warms up, the oil psi drops. UGH.

The weird white wall tire is actually the same as the other ones, just with severe curb rash. The spare is blown out and was only included because of the rim. Watch the video and see for yourself, this is officially somebody elses problem now.

I took the money and went and bought myself a 1988 subaru justy. So farewell dodgeforum, wish I had the cash to get this thing running properly.
