Did you have them grind the valves and seats or just clean everything? What did they charge you?

No they just cleaned these parts - push rods, bracketts, rockers, bolts only- The valves stayed in - I didnt realize they were gonna come out until I decided to change the seals.

will grind the valves by hand- I have time, no money

its was 90 to resurface and clean the heads.

also some of the push rod came back scratched a bit like someone used a gritty sandpaper - is this trouble?

As long as the tips are smooth they're okay. The sides don't touch anything.

hey guys thanks so much for the help - what a ride, stressful as hell but all is well. Got her up and running. Sounds amazing. the idle is so quiet and smooth it's eerie. this really is like a brand new van. at some point I will do a write up about my whole experience for other DIYers in my situation. and will conutine to comb the boards in the off chance that i have some info or help to ad.
