back up camera
Hello;
Just picked up a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 conversion van by DMC. I would like to install, in the near future, a backup camera. I would like to be able to have a larger screen, maybe 10 or so inches. I would also like to integrate the monitor with a gps, and maybe multiple cameras.
what do you like as a setup.
Thanks for any info

I just went through this and it was pretty interesting.
I bought a used Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 with the LTE option. The reason I got the LTE model is because you can put in a SIM card with a data plan to use the internet while traveling. Some of the apps require internet to work so that is the reasoning for that... I downloaded the KOA, Sams, and some other camping applications so that I am always able to find a place to camp when out and about.
I also ordered a $5 ODBII bluetooth adapter and obtained "TorquePro" so that I can monitor the computer in my other cars that have ODBII. The GPS software I downloaded is called "HERE" and it is extremely good and you can download the maps for use when you are away from the Internet. Not many of the tablet GPS programs let you do this for some reason.
The intent was to run the audio through the van stereo so I ordered a $30 bluetooth enabled head unit (no AM radio, no CD player) but I got what I paid for and it only worked for about 5 minutes before it died. I may put the tape deck back in the van and use one of those tape deck adapter gadgets to play the audio through the van speakers. Time will tell, the ebay vendor is sending me another head unit for free.

I have not bothered with the backup camera yet...that's what the wife is for.
Cheers, Steve

I went with these. Very easy to install and has kept me from backing into things thus far. It is wired into my backup lights so turns on automatically.
