My name is richard i live in oregon but my 1996 had started doing something we do not understand

a friend was driveing the van and it stopped running had it tow back into town and they said the ECU was bad and replaced it

but now we have the issues if you try to start to van and the check motor light comes on and off really fast the van not start if it come on and stays on the turns off it will start

any idea

 

What kind of van? Caravan? Ram van? etc. What engine? How many miles? Have you checked for stored codes? Who's "they" that replaced the ECU and how did they determine it was at fault? Please provide as much information as possible for us to better assist you.

the truck in question in a 1996 dodge Van B3500 with about 80k in milage this is a wheelchair van the computer was changed twice as the first one was bad and voltage were not where they should have been the new one seemed to be ok but the van was hard to start the first time

if the check motor lights stays on then goes off the truck will start but power seems off
if the check motor light flashs on then goes off it will not start and there is like a clicking inside the dash it seems have been think it may be a ING switch issues or dirty contacts inside the switch

 

That's either a bad connection somewhere, or yet another bad PCM.
