Default Dodge Ram 2500 Van not B2500

So according to CA BAR, the CAT I have on my van is not the correct cat for my vehicle, and thus, why I can't pass smog....

Although it passes with flying colors....

The BAR computer scans my Registration and says it is a Dodge Ram 2500 Van, but the CAT I have is for a Dodge B2500

Vehicle is a 1996, Full size Van, 3.9L V6

Also, some of you know that I previously went to a smog place where the guy just flat out didn't like me.. I went to a new place this time that was actually a pass or don't pay place, and it didn't pass. These guys were actually really cool, and was liek we want to pass you, but the numbers don't match up. Not sure what he looked at, but it said directly that it was a Ram 2500 Van, and not the B2500

is the Cat that I bought....

EASTERN CATALYTIC 640503

I went to DODGE and they did a VIN check, and printed out my vehicle specs -- they say it is a AB Body style (which is a B Series Van)

Not sure what your asking but "B" identifies a full size van. The Ram Van models were B150 B250 B350 pre 1995, B1500 B2500 B3500 1995 and newer. I'm pretty sure the switch in years.

So your van is a B2500 Ram Van.

see, that is what I was saying to the Smog Tech... But apparently, as far as BAR is concerned, I DON'T have the right cat. I have the right cat for a B2500, but not for the Ram 2500 Van. And because it isn't specified by the BAR, is illegal per BAR

So, when are you moving to Florida

According to the service manual the VIN id is B2500 and the decoding is Ram Van 2500. They are one in the same.

CA is crazy...I see why they are bankrupt.

Now there must be a way around that because you are LEGAL and not playing games with the state.

.You are not asking for a exception which the state could refuse your just stating fact.

Also you said the van passed the sniff test so honestly why would they care which cat your running and how the hell did they know?

they inspect the cat, they run the numbers on it and compare them to BAR, the BAR info is wrong, or not right..... The CA smog program is just a way to push cars off the road, and pad the pockets of the crooked politicians....
