transmission flush question

transmission flush question
So i have a 88 b250 5.2l and the transmission started going out of gear and back in real quick when it was cold so i checked the level and it was fine but the fluid was brown like oil so i did a at home flush today by takeing off the out flowing cooler line and pouring fresh fluid in as it ran out the old fluid looked like pure mud and was deffently shot. When i first started the van a very small trickle came out but at it got warm it stoped flowing but if i put the van in reverse it flowed really good like it should but in the video i watched on how to do the flush he had his car in park and it flowed good so is there something wrong with my tranny

I didnt power flush it i just unhooked one of the cooler lines and filled it as it flowed out but my question is the tranny did not pump fluid in netural only in gear is that normal cus i get mixed answers about it some sites say a tranny is supposed to pump fluid all the time

The front pump is always running.
It is a common part that fails in old transmissions.
Brown fluid usually means your transmission is about to fail miserably.
You may get 5 more miles or 500 more miles, but it will leave you stranded soon.

Jimbo74 just stated a point many folks have their trannies flushed and end up have problems, I have never heard of someone with tranny issue(s) cure it with a flush.
If tranny fluid is anything but cherry red (and not smelling burnt) I would look in to why. You say your fluid is dark and mud like well that would not be a tranny with a long life ahead.
Should you rely on this van for work a rebuild or replacement tranny should be in your plans and the good news is replacing the tranny in a B van is probably one of the easiest.

Flushing that way with a Dodge requires 2 people. One to put it in gear and run the throttle and another person to watch/fill the fluid.
I tried this in Park and also got a trickle of fluid coming out rather than a good steady flow. It is normal.

This is what the fluid looked like i changed it as soon as i seen it was this bad
