Default A/C Isn't Working Up Front, But Does Work In Back

Hey guys,

So a local animal rescue has a 2001 Dodge Van (I think it's a 2500) that had the A/C go out in the front (no air at all), but it still works in the back. Any idea of what it could be and how I could diagnose it? I searched but couldn't find anything specifically on this issue.

What exactly is not working? The blower or there is only hot air coming out?

I was told there's no air coming out at all so I guess the blower isn't running.

Fuse, resister, motor burned up. Start with checking those things.

Thanks. I was also told today by one of the drivers: "I shut it off up front for a bit then turned it back on and let it run for a bit and it started working." Does that sound like it could be the blower going out or something else?

It can be the blower or an intermittent connection. Next time it doesn't blow tap the blower motor with a hammer and see if it starts running. If it does replace the blower. The other quick test is to check for 12v power at the motor connection with the switch on. If you have 12v then the motor is no good.

Expansion valve in the front is clogged or the copper temp tube is broke...

I've now been told it works on high so it sounds like a resistor. I've ordered one so I'll let you guys know if it fixes it.
