MPH to get to overdrive in 5.2 with 46E trans
Hi all,
New to the forum and my 1995 Ram Van B2500.
It has the 5.2 V8 and I think the 46E transmission but I don't know about the rear gears ratio etc.
My question is, on level ground, minimal weight inside, what sort of speed will it be going into overdrive in as I have no tachometer? Just the speedo, oil pressure, temperature, voltage etc. I feel like everything is working but just wanted to see.
Other info, I have 235/70/16 tires on it.
I have another question re best speed for max fuel millage but I will ask that on another question.
Thanks
Alex

build info usually can be found on a tag on the underside of the hood, drivers side... like rear axle ratio
as I recall, I think mine kicks in around 45 or 50, depending on acceleration/RPM
I also have the same tires, and a 4.10 read end... my best MPG was maybe 14 going 55-60... strong tail winds would bump that up to 15
