BIG Van Tires
Hi,
i bought a used 2001 3500 maxi wagon with full stand up room high top added for original minibus conversion. It came with new off brand "Geo Trac" LT 245/75R16 120/116Q tires.
These tires are not "E" rated and have a bad enough review that I want to replace them.. It has been suggested to me by a tire shop I should use 235's not 245's for safety. With such a heavy van could anyone advise on what tire I should put on it? I actually don't know what "E" or 120/116Q mean although I do get the other numbers.
Thanks

load range E is a 10 ply rated tire which gives stiffer sidewalls
this stiffness gives great driving characteristics
I put on Goodyear Wrangler E, 245-75-16 which I upgraded from 225 tires... drove the van for 60K miles on those tires with plenty tread left before I junked it due to electrical problems
