Hi guys, I'm having some issues with my 1996 Dodge Ram Van 1500 with a V-6. The trans when I shift into drive doesn't engage unless I give the shifter an extra tap to get into drive. Also sometimes it slips between 2nd & 3rd. Also it is the 3 speed auto. Thanks for any advice. Van has just over a hundred thousand miles on it.

 

Did you check linkage?
I had a similar problem and had to replace a plastic bushing at the linkage to lever at transmission.
Fixed my problem.
