Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield
My 1994 Ram B2500 has these cumbersome heat shields that prevent good access to the spark plugs. No, not the cylindrical ones surrounding the plugs, it's the "flat" shields that are secured to the floor board to the side of the exhaust manifold. I'm seriously considering removing them and the cylindrical ones and fixing fiberglass/carbon fiber boot covers for shielding. Spark plug replacement shouldn't take two hours or so.
And besides, on my '77 B150 Tradesman van, I NEVER experienced heat issues with the plug wires or any other part of the ignition and the vehicle had 225k miles on it and was always driven in the Mojave desert with temperatures ranging upwards of 115-120F. No issues here.
Alright, now what about eliminating the heat deflectors??????
