No prob starting, idles fine... there's a point on the gas pedal where I'll feel it start to lose power, then the 'howling' sound eminating from the carb barrels...changed the fuel pump about 2 months ago...could it be related? Any help greatly appreciated!
I've been told that it could be catalytic converter?

Ok... it's funny because I just looked up 'signs of converter failure' and that's what they suggested, too. Much appreciated!

Disconnected the front 02 sensor....still getting the groan when I got that spot... that's only in D, stationary. I'm going for a spin around the block to see what it does under a load.

Try removing the front O2 sensor from the exhaust pipe. See if it runs any better.

Didn't have a check engine light until I disconnected the sensor... I changed the plugs when I did the fuel pump... about 2 months ago. It was running strong...the new pump really made a difference...it sounds like the carb is sucking for air...idles and starts no problem... I'm going to try to record the noise and post it if possible.. thanks again.
