Question New Owner - 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Van

Just picked up a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Van - an old Bell Atlantic repair van complete with ladder rack on the roof, cage behind the 2 seats, and security grates over the windows.

Only 2 issues so far, one is a starter that works occasionally, sometimes it goes "click", sometimes it cranks! The second is that the heater fan only works on low.

From my experience in the past as an auto mechanic the starter sounds like a sticky solenoid. I figured I would drop the starter, tear it apart, clean it, and put it back in. For the heater fan, I am thinking relay or resister.

What do you experts think?

Starter has a relay in the circuit for the solenoid. So, check that first. (just swap it with the horn relay, see if that improves its attitude. Assuming, of course, that the horn works. )

Pull the resistor block for the fan, and see what it looks like. Not working on high seems kinda strange, since it works on low.......

Check for continuity across all resistors for the heater blower motor. They should all be contained within one single block.

Will do, I'll give it a thorough test!
