Hello, I have a 1994 Dodge B250 Ram Van with a little over 30,000 original miles, and I need to replace the overdrive on/off button/switch assy.

I am unable to locate this part, I have tried eBay, several junkyards, the Dodge dealer, but I have been unable to locate one.

Does anyone know where I can locate this part?

Seen one on eBay the other day, probably still there.

 

I have the same exact problem.

You may want to try an electronics supply store, and buy a simple on/off switch that fits in this slot, as I would guess that this is a standard size.

Using this method, you may also get (or wire it yourself) the upgrade of the switch being lit all of the time, as I have a real difficult time locating the button at night.

Also, the switch will be new, not 25 years old.

LedZep, I think you have got the right idea. I bought a used o/d switch from a '94 Dodge Ram truck, my wiring connector matched and plugged into it, but now I have the opposite problem. My van will now go into overdrive, but I can't lock the overdrive off when climbing a hill, pushing the button does nothing.

 

I would suggest not using a harness or connector first.

If you can locate a wiring diagram, that would be best.

If not, at the same electronics store, buy a simple on/off switch, like a light switch or equivalent.

Using trial & error, and wiring different combinations to your new simple switch, find which two wires are the overdrive on/off.

Then, use a voltmeter, and find two wires that have power when the headlights are on. Use these two wires to power the backlight of the OD switch

Its not a simple on/off switch. It is a momentary switch, that sends a voltage signal to the PCM, which handles the lite, and disabling O/D. Find the right switch. Do not try and jerry rig something.

 

+1 - I have the Factory Chrysler/Dodge manual and the wiring to it does do something funny with the light wire controlling the od. I know it sounds funny but when you follow the wires from the button to the pcm and to the transmission, the factory switch is the way to go.
