Default AIR Bag light

99 3500 ext. cargo van, 5.9l gas

Had my own little issue today... the air bag light came on and off pretty and much ding-ding-dinged at me all day long while driving. Nothing out of the ordinary, was just driving to work as usual.

I've never dealt with this particular problem so I plan to do some searching, but throwing this out there for anyone with some idea or suggestion as to a why or what to be looking at /for???
I don't know if it is seatbelt system, crash sensor (if there is one) or wiring in the tilt steering column.... any ideas?

I did pull the 2 fuses at the side of the dash (for the air bag) to check but still the light was lit and the ding ding

Messing with air bags can be dangerous. Need to get it scanned (specialized scanner) for codes to find out whats causing the light to come on.

When you first turn the key on does the airbag light flash a sequence of codes? Like flash, flash, flash...pause...flash, flash, which would indicate a code 32.

No flashes... With the key on the lights all do their sequence and the airbag light stays on, then a short pause and the chime rings 4 times. If I start up and take off to say.. town, it'll continue to chime 4 times, pause a few seconds, light will turn off, then and chime 4 times repeatedly again.
If on the highway more or less long straight runs, the chiming stops but the light remains on until exiting to town and making left/right turns again.

I had access to an Innova 3100j scanner with the ability to scan abs/airbag codes but no luck getting it to communicate when running the abs or the srs test. The trip counter ends up displaying a "nobus" and sometimes the other gauges go dead, other times not, plus all the dummy lights go on until I unplug it. But starts up normal and runs just fine .
I tried this Innova on my 01 Silverado and it communicates and completes these 2 tests no problem. I know this scanner isn't high end pro scanner but did appear to work on my other rig.
I'm pretty sure the srs module is under my driver seat so may pull the seat and check connections anyway, no probing wires or anything, not my area of expertise. From the look of it, would be a good opportunity to clean the mess under there from nearly 20 years of being my work rig.
The forward and reverse motion of electric seat seems to be jammed and not working correctly either so can get a better look at that, the other motion settings do work.
