Default A500 Neutral Safety Switch or Rooster Comb Insulator?

The Neutral Safety Switch on my 1991 B250 with an A500 transmission is suddenly out of adjustment. I now need to sweep the shifter while holding the key in the crank position to start the van. Shift linkages on this van have not been touched for 10 years so they are rusted solid and would not have come out of adjustment. The NSS isn't totally dead because it works but just not in the correct gear.
Is this a rooster comb insulator problem? I see they have a repair part floating around but I haven't been able to determine how to know if you've blown the rooster comb...

There are bushings on the linkage that wear/break over time, giving you a sloppy shifter. Worth looking at.

It ended up being the shifter linkage out of adjustment.
