Default 2000 ram van 1500 brake controller ?

Hello all,

I recently acquired this van for the purpose of towing a new travel trailer that I am purchasing, it actually has the Mark 3 conversion package on it.

My question relates to installing a brake controller, i have read conflicting things as to whether or not there is a pre-wired harness by the pedals to just plug the controller into. One thing i had read was that up by the parking brake i would find a harness that was taped to another wire, and that is the harness to plug the adapter into. However, I had also read that it would be a four pronged harness, the harness i found is two pronged, and it has one black wire with a white stripe coming off of it. Can anyone tell me if that is the proper harness? Or am i wasting my time because this van did not come with that pre-installed?

Also, another question.

Would this van need me to install a transmission cooler? Or do these ram vans already come with something decent from the factory?

One more piece of info, the rear of the van has a 6 way round pin trailer wiring hookup, my understanding is that is wired in for brakes, which is what has me thinking/hoping that this harness is under the dash. although i think it is likely this was installed by uhaul

On the trucks, it's a four-pin connector, blue, and it's right near the drivers left foot, by his toes. It may or may not be tied/taped to something else, but, it *should* have the connector on it.

Sure it's not a 7 pin connector back there? (the center one counts too. )

Needing a brake controller installed on my 02 1500 as well. Did you figure it out?

I'm headed to a local shop for a quote today as well. Not sure I want to fool with it either. Thanks!
