Default recirculate door fix

Hi There, I have a 2002 1500 VAN 5.2..Having trouble with the AC...the local shop said it is the recirculate door. I am having trouble locating the part that says it is compatible with the van. Lots of truck videos and parts/ So my question is threefold

1. Has anyone found a part that works for the 1500 van?
2. Does it work to go in thru the glovebox for the fix or do we have to tear into the dash?
3. if I cant find a part...can we just close off the fresh air intake?

Thanks so much!!

Welcome to DF!

The dealer may be your only shot on the door itself. If nothing else, you could get a part number from them, and then google the part number. No clue on the repair itself. Moving this to the Van section for ya. Folks there should be able to help ya out.

IIRC the whole serviceable parts of the HVAC are accesses through the engine compartment...
And if IIRC again, the recirculation valve is on top of the case to the very left. It is a vacuum motor. It is under the expansion valve.
If you need the door, you should be able to find it in a junkyard. Mine rusted out a few years ago and I had to replace it too.
I didn't do the job as my friend did it for cheap...
Hope this helps!
