Default 98 V6 - Where does this large EVAP hose connect to?

Hi guys, while replacing some broken vacuum line today I found a large hose just dangling under the hood. I followed it back to the EVAP canister below the vehicle. There is a definite fuel odor when the engine is running. The other two lines coming from the canister run to the rollover valve on the fuel tank, and the purge solenoid. According to the diagram in my Haynes manual, by process of elimination, it should lead to the "intake manifold orifice." But I can't figure out where on the engine that is. The end of the hose has a short connective piece of hose on it, so it might have been joined to another hose that leads to the right place, but after half an hour of searching, I can't find anything to connect it to.

Phantom EVAP hose!

This is the best picture I could take:

Don't mind the disconnected engine ground.

Anyone know where this hooks up to?

I think it is supposed to attach to the drivers side of the intake manifold.
The port on the passenger side is for the HVAC.
I think I remember this right

Thanks for your reply! Yes, the passenger side hooks up to the HVAC system and the PCV valve. The left side intake hooks up to the brake booster, and has a capped nipple. But it looks from the diagram looks like the nipple is supposed to be there. Then again, the diagram shows 3 vacuum ports on each side, and as far as I can tell the engine has only 2 per side... Do you know if anything bad would happen if I routed it to the capped vacuum input and it wasn't supposed to be routed there?

Adding to the confusion, the tube in question is shaped, and definitely was destined for the hood , routing past the intake itself, so I'm still flummoxed.

This is the diagram I've been working off of from my repair manual:

Maybe this isn't an accurate diagram for a 1998 dodge ram van? The repair manual lists it as valid for this year, but I don't see the 3 vacuum ports.

I also found this diagram for a Dakota of a similar year, supposedly same engine:

The number of Vacuum ports seems more accurate here, but my canister definitely has 3 hoses coming off it, and this one lists only two. I just have no idea.
