Default 96 Dodge B2500 van hard to start w new fuel pump

My van runs great once it start, but the only way that it starts is by switching the ignition to on position for at least 2 minutes, a failed 1st start attempt, leave in the on position for another 2 minutes and then it will start maybe without a 3rd try. I changed the fuel pump, but still having the same problem. If I touch the gas pedal during any of those attempts, it will not start. Please, what could be the problem??? It runs perfect once it is running.

Cycle the key a couple times on/off before trying to start. Should be able to hear the fuel pump run when you first turn it on. Make the pump run twice, then try and start, see if it's any better.

What brand pump did you install?

I am not a 100% sure of the brand. I bought it from Advance auto parts. I am lost. I could start changing spark plug wires and ignition coil.

When is the last time those were changed? Cap? Rotor? Does fuel pressure come right up to around 50 as soon as you turn the key?

This is likely an ECM issue. To test it, before the first start of the day warm up the ECM with a hairdryer for several minutes. If the engine starts up with the ECM being pre-warmed then it is failing.
