There are quite a few electrical weird things going on with the dash/OBD port on this van. For example the CEL flashes when I hit a hard bump in the road and the OBD port is not powered as it should - I could only read it with a professional service scan tool 2 years ago.

We planning to open the dash cover and hunt for electrical gremlins around there but we are also dreading that moment...

Do you think this mod would do any difference in our case?

Nope. Won't make any difference at all. The 3rd gen trucks have electronic throttle. Among other foibles...... That's why it may help them. Won't matter at all for you, as anything on the throttle body is already grounded thru the PCM.
