Default Why do I keep losing the speed sensor?

Hi guys, still loving my 97 B3500 van, my only issue is that every two to three months, I need to replace my speed sensor, which is located on top of the rear axle , center of the differential, when it goes, I get the brake light illuminated on the dash, and as soon as I replace it, the light goes out again, I have replaced the fluid in the rear axle, and cleaned it out as best I can so no junk is in the sensor , I have also cleaned the contacts of the sensor connectors, but still no luck, the van runs great, so am really trying to fix this issue, if you have any ideas, I’d be grateful to hear them,,thanks again,,,,

Any visual damage on the sensor end? Same brand of sensor? Have you cleaned all visible connectors on the wire? If I remember correctly, there are two connectors before it is part of the harness. Compare ohm readings on your old sensors and to a new if you can. Im thinking you may have a danaged wire back there. Everytime you replace the sensor you temporarily wiggle the wire to a short term functioning state. I'm just thinking out loud as I have not had an issue with mine.

I agree with BN. Next time it fails, just unplug it, shake the harness around a bit, plug it back in. See if that doesn't 'fix' it for a while.

Thanks guys for your replies, I will try the connector again, the sensors seem perfect when I remove them, I will try the ohms , it seems like no one else is having a similar issue, so maybe it is the connections, I’ll keep on trying, thanks again,,,,
