Help with three things...
Hi all.
Im back in Florida! I have been driving my van much more since I have been back and I now have three things I need some help with...
02 B1500 - 360 with a 46RH about 125k on the trans...
First thing that really bothers me is the transmission (I believe) has developed a hiccup in OD. Just for some background, I had the tranny serviced about a year ago (2000 miles) and he said it looked fine. Now, in OD at 50-60 mph it feels like it jumps out of gear for a half of second and then slams back into gear. I have tried to research this on the forum, but I ended up in a snafu. It does it more when cooler than hotter and some days it doesn't do it at all...
Second, and I have never seen this happen, is my oil pressure dropped to zero after stopping from a long run. I dont know what type and quality of oil is in it, (had Monore do it before I ran down the interstate 1500 miles) but I did notice it was low by over a quart when I checked. I am thinking this may just be normal, but I have heard of the oil pumps going on these motors...thoughts???
And lastly, what are the firmest shocks I get get for the front. I replaced the springs with the original rates up front and the rear, unfortunately, is stiffer than stock (we had to take a guess since Elk is defunct and Dodge had no listings for my van. So the rear is nice and stiff over humps, the the front likes to float up and down after one of them (like a dip in the road)...any suggestions? I have Monroes on there now (gas adjust) that are specified for a regular 1500. Mine is a conversion and I seem to remember the stock shocks being much stiffer.
Thanks for any help!

You probably don't have a tach on that.... but, when my truck was doing the RPM bounce, it was the trans kicking in/out of TCC lockup. Replacing the throttle position sensor solved it.
Oil pumps are pretty reliable, so long as there is oil in the engine..... Oil Pressure sensors, on the other hand, are friggin' terrible. One of their failure modes is zero oil pressure at idle, however, barely touch the gas, and it's back to 40 PSI or so.... Best bet it to piggyback a mechanical gauge into it, and see what you really have when the dash gauge says zero.
Bilstien 5100's.
The truck guys like 'em.
