Has anyone swapped the 518 OD trans in place of the 500 OD trans? I have a 1989 B250 with the 5.2, the 500 transmission is shot. I have a 518 that I've been kicking around for years. This seems like a good time to use it. I know it will bolt up. Just curious about drive shaft mods, wiring, and the such. Any info would be appreciated.

 

What year is the donor trans? If it's a 46RH, (3 pin trans connector) it should bolt right in, but, I think it is a bit longer than the 500...... so, may need to move the mount, and shorten the driveshaft.

 

I forgot to mention. I was told when I bought it the 518 was from a 1990 truck. The length is the issue, i think. I will probably rebuild the 500 that is in the Van.
