Update
I tapped in to the ignition switch harness on my 1996 B2500 and got the temporary ignition switch wired in, turned the key and it works as it should. Now, do I plug the connector back into the original switch, or just leave it unplugged?
Dark Blue wire from connector to IGN terminal on switch
Yellow wire from connector to SOL terminal on switch. Used quality quick splices for connection
When I turn key, it starts and runs as normal, gauges work as well
I did some checking this morning. The alternator fuel and oil pressure gauges come on. No turn signals, windshield wipers. blower fan or power windows. I reconnected the plug into the old switch, still no accessories working. I turned the old switch to the on position, then the accessories all worked. So,do I wire up a master power on/off switch, then use the key switch for starting the van?
