Speedometer not working after trans rebuild.

Default Speedometer not working after trans rebuild.

what would cause my speedometer needle not to move while driving?. freshly rebuilt 46re transmission on a 97 dodge b3500 extended van.

ABS and brake lite on?

Could be the VSS isn't plugged in, or, if it was removed, it may not be indexed properly.

Maybe they forgot to reinstall the speedometer gear in the tranny. Ask the shop that rebuilt the tranny about it, if they're reputable they'll likely solve the issue at no cost to you.

how would i properly index it? Youre talking about that plug in that bolts to the back of the transmission right?

Yep. Supposedly, the trans, and VSS are marked as to the number of teeth on the driven gear, if you know how many teeth it has, line up the marks, and lock it in place.
