Default Catalytic Converter 94 B250 5.9 L

Can removing the cat cause popping from exhaust and misfiring? Someone was replacing my plugs and wires and they removed the cat. Now van is running really rough and popping in exhaust. I've read several post here, but haven't seen anything that mentions the popping noise. Thank you.

No, Sounds like they have the firing order wrong when they replaced the wires.

Why would "someone" remove the catalytic converter while replacing plugs and wires? did they replace it with a straight pipe of just leave a large gap in your exhaust system? Do you know who that someone is and why they removed it?

There is a pipe there. I was told the cat was not working and removing would help. Im not a mechanic so i don't know. Im just trying to get my van working. Im 1600 miles from home so I don't know mechanics here. Im also not sure why you put quotations on someone?

Recheck firing order. I suspect you will find your problem. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Number one is prominently labeled on the distributor cap, rotation is clockwise.

Because you said someone did this. Wondering who this "someone" was. Friend? Relative? Shop mechanic? etc.
