Default Steering sector shaft / input shaft?

Hi all.
Im kind of laid up right now and need some help.
I have a clicking coming from the steering shafts. My daughter actually found it I had my wife take it to a tech and he wants to do both shafts ie. sector and the other input?
I have an extra steering column, but because Im out, I cant get to it. And I cant get to my manuals...
I want to do this job as soon as I heal...can some help with some info about this job? Thanks in advance!
