I am really not a fan of the fail safe thermostats. They invariably fail.... and quickly too. I just use Stant Super Stats, and have had no trouble with them.
I agree with you...regular old thermostats work just fine. Usually, people that have issues with them never pay attention to them until they fail. The problem with the fail safe ones, is that once they trip into fail safe mode due to high temperatures they have to be replaced, unlike regular ones that will reset themselves.
