High beams only - Replaced multi switch
Hi, like the title says, I have high beams only, low beams don't work. 1997. Replaced the 40a fuse under the hood and replaced the multi use (hi/low beam) switch on the column and checked for loose wires. Voltage is going to the fuse on high beams and no voltage on low beams. Clearly the issue is between the multi switch connector and the fuse block on the low beam circuit, are there any known issues I should be aware of to help track down the culprit? It is a '97 model and I don't think the tipm /ipm module issue applies to this year.
There is only one headlight per side, Low and high beams are on one bulb just with different voltage and the flash position activates the brights which do work fine. I have been driving with the brights on, just angled down
Actually, there are two filaments in the bulbs, one for lows, one for highs. (three terminals on the back of the bulb, low, high, and ground) Which one gets power determines which bulb is on. All of 'em are on the flash position. Unplug one of the bulb connectors, test for voltage on all three terminals, hit the high beam switch, and test again, should see power on a different terminal than the previous test.
