Default Help Identifying Engine Part (96 318 w/ 5.2)

Hello, I am having what appears to be a bit of an oil leak on my 96 B2500 with 5.2L 318 engine. I can see that the leak is coming from this giant rusty looking cap thing on top of what I think is the cylinder head cover?

Can anyone help me figure out what the name of this rusty cap thing is? I've tried googling 318 engine diagrams etc but have not had any luck so far.

Thanks

It's a breather cap. It's supposed to be an intake for the PCV system, but, since it is spitting oil OUT, I would guess your PCV system isn't working properly. PCV valve should be on the other side, think I would start with replacing that. They are cheap. Less than 10 bucks.

Are you blowing oil out the dip stick tube? It's probably the PCV valve. If you take it out of the valve cover and shake it. If it doesn't rattle, it's stopped up.
