Default B250 VAN -89 Water temp gauge

Hi,

Have two VAN 's from -89. One B350 4x4 and a B250 2x4. Both with same engine. When the engines are operating heated on the highway they show different water temp heat on the gauge. What is the gauge supposed to show in heath? Don't know which car is correct.

To the right. Which line when hot?

At normal operating temp, I would expect to see the gauge at about the half way mark, or just below. Of course, the gauges in these aren't exactly known for their accuracy.... On my truck, I thought I had a bad thermostat, as the gauge read kinda low..... I should have plugged in with a scanner first, as after changing the thermostat, the gauge was still in the same place..... and the engine was at 195..... Ooops.
